The University of Cincinnati, College of Engineering and Applied Science invites applications for a Computer & Info Analyst I.

Reporting to the Computer & Info Analyst Supervisor within the Office of College Computing, the Computer & Info Analyst I position is responsible for support, maintenance, and management of departmental computing technologies, including the following major duties:

  • Primarily supports the overall technology needs for the faculty, staff, researchers and students of the academic departments within the College of Engineering and Applied Science.
  • Hardware and software installation, with configuration and administration of end-user desktop and mobile computing devices.
  • Troubleshoots, analyzes and resolves problems associated with the system hardware, operating systems, software/applications.
  • Ensures compliance with security standards and practices to protect against system vulnerabilities and ensures software license compliance.
  • Computer support functions for faculty and staff offices and research labs. Platforms supported include Linux, Mac and Windows and mobile devices.
  • Other duties to include IT asset management, technology specification and purchasing, email moderation, software license compliance and audio visual support.
  • Works collaboratively within College Computing and with IT staff in academic departments to ensure that technology needs are being met in a consistent manner in support of academic teaching and research.
  • Effectively communicates with internal and external stakeholders, especially with faculty and students.
  • Maintains a flexible work schedule to support users during non-standard hours as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position includes research projects handled under ITAR; which is sponsored by the United States Government and requires U.S citizenship or the applicant to possess a Green Card

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related degree; -OR- an Associate's degree with two (2) years' experience; or four (4) years of basic to intermediate level computer hardware related experience.
  • Possesses working knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures and contributes through support, using established processes, methods, and systems.
  • US Citizen, Permanent Resident or an individual who is granted status as a "protected person" under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience should include administration of desktop technologies and a high level of experience with supporting hardware and software of varying technologies, of a company, agency or institution with more than 50 employees.
  • Demonstrated experience in Linux, Mac and Windows desktop support. Experience with audio visual technologies is a plus.
  • Must have outstanding organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines, excellent writing and speaking skills, abilities to work both independently and collegially as the situation requires, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic and critical environment where constructive feedback is commonplace.
